Bingham Riverhouse, Richmond. A Summer Wedding for Jessica + Karim

If you’re planning a wedding at Bingham Riverhouse in Richmond, you’ll love this wedding for inspiration! A Summer Wedding, with sumptuous pinks & greens, those iconic rattan ceremony chairs and tropical flowers .

In August, I had the absolute pleasure of Photographing Jessica + Karim’s beautiful Wedding at the iconic Bingham Riverhouse in Richmond. A definite highlight from my 2022 diary, so I’d like to take the time to show off these beautiful images.

Nestled in West London, right on the edge of the River Thames, the venue is a chic town house, but with a bit of ‘countryside retreat’ vibe woven through it. The Garden is an oasis, overlooking the gentle flow of boat traffic and weekend walkers and cyclists. We were fortunate to have the most perfect weather imaginable and had the full use of the space.

Jessica and Karim wanted their photography to be authentic and relaxed. We discussed their wishes beforehand, and it was important that the photos didn’t dictate their day too much. My style is very immersive and relaxed, there to capture the candid moments.

Today is my new favourite day and I can’t wait for more favourite days with you

The ceremony took place on the lawn, with those stunning rattan chairs which blew up my instagram. The flowers were by the contemporary flower artists, Iona and Romy of Sage Flowers. Based in South London, I had come across their work a year beforehand and I knew they would create something magical. The flowers were a colour explosion of tropical flowers, which created such a great colour pop against the green. It was a modern, tasteful and very romantic.

Jessica and Karim curated such a visually enticing day, which blew me away. They had sent me their supplier list prior to their wedding date, and seeing all the amazing people they had pulled together, I just knew I was in for a creatively fulfilling day.

Hair and Make up artist Abi Taylor, created stunning Hollywood waves on Jessica and flawless make up. Her glam was a soft elegance, just elevating Jessica’s natural beauty. Everything just looked so effortless and chic. It is a real art form to create such a flawless, glowing finish. I love watching Abi work - the way she matches colour and slowly builds the coverage. I’d recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat.

Groom preparations took place in the pink bar. It’s contemporary and colourful backdrop was amazing for some relaxed and candid portraits of the Groomsmen doing the final touches of their outfits. The light streams through in this room and the unique artwork and colours really elevate the images.

The styling of pocket squares and ties was directed by Karim, a man who is confident in a suit. I was secretly relieved, because people usually ask me! I did spent a few years working in menswear, however I am a bit rusty and always worry I will miss out on some of my favourite candid moments. If you’re reading this and in the stages of planning, I would recommend getting on YouTube and practicing this before the big day.

Once the Gents had got themselves prepped, the beautiful bar area was used for the Bride’s ‘reveal’ to her bridesmaids. These organic moments can be gently constructed at a venue like this, to give you the best photos possible. It doesn’t have to feel staged. Just allow the day to flow and for you to be guided by your suppliers. It’s also nice to travel through the venue to maximise the amazing space you have for yourself. Jessica and Karim were both so chilled.

On to the Ceremony

The ceremony was a beautiful service in the walled garden, lead by Karim’s close family member. They read their own vows. It was such a personal service. They decorated the area with flowers, which looked stunning against the botanical garden.

I will let the photos do the talking from there, so enjoy a scroll and let me know what you think….
